Guy Wires For Antenna Mast

Guy Wire is a cable or cables used to provide back up to an antenna or antenna structure.

Antenna guy wire is ordinarily fabricated of galvanized steel compared to antenna ground wire which is produced with aluminum wire and antenna wire which is made out of copper wire.

The diagram shows an antenna belfry existence supported by a number of guy wires, each connected to a different elevation on the tower. An anchor which is cemented into the footing is used to hold the guy wires in identify. One anchor support may hold more than ane guy wire.

Guy wire is provided by cablevision diameter, breaking strength in pounds, and of form length. Guy wires are stranded cables and are specified with the number of wires per strand.

The guy ballast is usually a metal back up cemented into the ground supported by a concrete block.

The number of guy wires fastened to the cable ballast would depend on the size of the anchor and the amount of tension

Cable Clamps are used to secure a cable to a secure location, in this case a physical block set into the ground.

Turnbuckles can be used on the guy wires to provide and adjust tension.

Turnbuckles may have an eyelet or Jaw at either end.

Guy wires are placed symmetrically around the tower structure, usually on 3 sides of the mast.

Of class Guy wires could also support a radar dish atop a mast.
